Breast Cancer Awareness Month

As we are all aware, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Marc's mom passed away due to this terrible disease Feb 4, 1999. We decided Cameron would honor is grandmother and all the other women who pass away from this by wearing pink to his games. The first week of Oct, Cameron was the only member of his team who wore pink. Sadly, the coaches gave him a hard time about the pink. That is, until he told them it was Breast Cancer Awareness month. It was good to see more boys this week show up with pink.

Dear Grandma Lilly, we think of you often. We share stories of you with our kids. We laugh at the good times we spent with you. Although, you are not here anymore. We do feel your love and protection. Thank you for watching over our children.

The Storm were sadly defeated by the Spurs. Although, Cameron had a great game!!!! He intercepted the ball right in front of us. It was so awesome :) Great-Grandma Tessendorf was there to see it as well.

Dear Cameron, I love the young man you have become. I love watching you play!!! You were there for your team mate to help him off the field when he got hurt. You were there to help encourage your teammates while everyone else was getting discouraged. You were a good sport while shaking hands with the other team. I know you have some kids you have known for a few years on that team. Thank you for the being the good example you are!!!!! Don't ever forget how much we love you :)

Fashionista

Marc has been gone on a business trip all week. He came home last night while we were at Ellie's cheer practice. Marc arrived at the park and of coarse the kids were all excited to see him. Cameron and Emersyn were gone down to the park, but quickly came running to greet their dad.

Emersyn gave him a hug hello, backed away and said you got a new belt. Marc and I looked at each other and couldn't help but laugh. She notices everything when it comes to what people are wearing. Earlier in the week Marc had told me he forgot his belt, but that was the end of it. I didn't know he went and bought himself a new belt. I didn't even notice he had a belt on when he walked up. Funny, how within 30 sec of seeing her dad, Emersyn knew he had boughten himself a new belt.

I can't remember if I have shared the story of the rug on here or not. If I have, please forgive me. (I am getting old and having a hard time remembering things) While out running some errands one Sat Marc and I stopped in at Costco. I had been wanting to get a rug to lay by my front door. They had one I liked, for a reasonable price. We brought it home. Emersyn was so excited to get it out of the plastic. As I moved it to the area of the front door, Emersyn had a fit!!!! She started telling me how you can't have a 2 rugs in the same room (we have a rug in our living room in front of the couch) and it didn't look good there. She wanted it moved to the family room to be put in front of the couches there. While Marc and I were laughing and kind of in shock about her passion for this rug, she picked it up and dragged it to the family room.

What a silly girl she is. I think he career/hobby is definitely going have something to do with decorating. Emersyn is always on the computer dressing girls up or decorating rooms. Guess, I should let her decorate our house. She would probably do a better job at it than I can.

Where's Ellie..?

This is the question I often get when I am somewhere with my kids and Ellie is missing. For example, yesterday Ellie stayed after school for some tutoring in reading. I didn't want Emersyn to walk home by herself so I walked down to the crosswalk to pick her up. I waited and waited for Emersyn to walk cross the field and get to the crosswalk. After not seeing her for a bit I decided I was going to walk across to the school and find her. Well, I didn't get very far before I came across Emersyn.

As Emersyn and I were waiting to cross the street the cross guard turns to me and asks, "Where is Ellie?"

Since yesterday I have been thinking about that question. Although, Ellie may be one of our most difficult children at home, she sure has a way with people around her. When I think about it, even my kids will ask where she is.... Ellie is the one who EVERYONE wants around. We love you Ellie!!!!

School Projects

Marc and I LOVE (with a sarcastic voice) it when school projects are sent home to do. When I graduated school those many, many years ago I never thought I would be going back. I didn't think of who would be doing the school projects. That is right, WHO would be DOING the school projects.

This is Emersyn's first school project she has had to complete at home and take back to school. Marc is actually the one in our house who is awesome at doing these!!!! He does a great job and our kids grades show for it.

Emersyn's class was building a community out in the hall in front of their classroom. Emersyn got to decide what to build. It took some time to get a final decision out of her, but she came up with doing a Hungry Howies. Have you ever had their pizza? Oh, it is so good :) You can choose what crust to have. Garlic has become our families favorite and it's so cheap. Anyway, I got a little distracted with the pizza & crust.... Emersyn was super excited to do this and she did a great job painting the box.

Funny thing about school projects, Marc and I get so excited when the grades are passed out. After being out of school for A REALLY LONG TIME....WE STILL GOT IT!!!!!!!!! (Marc still has it at least)

Happy Birthday to Marc

So yesterday was Marc's birthday. I know, kind of lame that I am JUST now writing about it. To my defense it was a busy day of celebration and taxi driving.

Marc decided to "work from home" (which means take the day off without using vacation time). He went golfing in the morning with a friend from work. They had a great time. We went to lunch with some friends who never let us down in the entertaining department. From there, I had to get home to pick up kids and get Marc's favorite cake frosted. Ending with a yummy dinner and a little peace and quiet while I took the little girls to Ellie's cheer practice.

The best part of this whole day, for me anyways...... HE FOUND 2 GRAY HAIRS!!!!!!!!!

Broken Arm Anniversary

Well, we had a great, relaxing Labor Day weekend this year. Both Cameron and Ellie had football games Saturday with each team winning. We had a great dinner at Denise's Sunday evening and enjoyed visiting with Grandma T. Came home to watch a movie. It sure was nice not having to get up for school the next day. I think I enjoy it as much as the kids do :) Monday we took the kids (and some of their friends) to see Shrek the Final Chapter. It was playing at the $2 movies (yes, they are not $1 anymore). We quickly figured out everyone else who didn't leave town for cooler weather had the exact same idea. I could not believe the lines. The movie was cute even though the theater was HOT. I thought it was standard for theaters to be an icebox...oh well, we enjoyed ourselves. Cameron had football practice so there really wasn't much else we could do.

Last Labor Day was a complete different story. It rained that weekend causing Cameron to have to make up his football game Monday morning. We were out at Queen Creek High School and just before the game starts Cameron takes a tackle that snapped his wrist.

Hard to believe a year has already passed. Glad this Labor Day allowed us the chance to relax and hang out with our kids.

Labor Day Weekend A Year Ago

ASU vs ISU

For the past few years things have worked out for some of the Washburn family to gather in Arizona. Usually, we all gather in Idaho once a year for the family reunion. It is so great to be together with family.

Last Labor Day weekend ISU traveled down to play ASU. We have a nephew who plays on the offense line for ISU. What a treat!!! We were going to get to see him play. Not only that, but some Washburn family came in town to enjoy as well. Dan and Hiedi brought their girls' from Texas, Andy brought some of his girls' from California and Ted brought Becky from Idaho.

The game was being played on a Sat. night. We had everyone over to our house for a little pre-game fun. Carne Asada tacos is what we served for dinner. They seemed to be a hit!!!! After we were full from dinner we traveled down to the ASU stadium. After the game was over, we found the bus that would take the ISU team back to their hotel. While we stood there and waited a Papa Johns Pizza delivery showed up with I couldn't count how many pizzas there were so many. Our inquiring minds wanted to know.... When Mitch finally came out of the locker room (although he was one of the first to come out) we asked him about the pizza. A large pizza was ordered for EVERY player. That's right, ONE WHOLE PIZZA PER PLAYER.

It was a lot of fun getting everyone together and hope to do it again sometime soon.
