Happy Birthday Grandpa Tessendorf

On June 10, 2009 Grandpa Tessendorf turned 83. He has not been feeling well so we gathered today as a family to celebrate his youthfulness. Jerry, Denise, Steve, Dad, Arlene, Marc, the kids and I all came together to eat some of Grandpa's favorite cake. Grandma makes a home-made German Chocolate cake every year for Grandpa since it is his favorite. Happy Birthday Grandpa. We love you!!!

Weekend project...before and after

With so much to do because he is leaving out of town on Monday Marc was kind enough to finish our bathroom before he left. This project started a little over a week ago with a leaky faucet. Marc is very handy and can fix about anything. One evening I guess he had enough of the "drip, drip" and started to try and fix it. Well... within a few we were calling my dad for Arlene's number. Arlene owes a plumbing company and we knew she would have some answers for us. Her son Neil kindly came out that night to fix the pipes so we could turn the water back on to our house. With the shower pulled apart we thought this would be a good time to tile if we could find what we wanted. I think the shower looks great. Leaking faucets are not always a bad thing...if you get a new shower in the end.

Emersyn turns 6

Saturday May 30th Emersyn celebrated her 6th birhtday with having some friends and family over. Annika, Laurynn, Jonathan, Kaelen were a few friends she invited from school. Ashley, Alex, Peyton were some friends from churcha and Jake a cousin. We had a water slide for them to slide on. Emersyn also wanted a pinata to hit at her party. We served pizza, chips, capri suns and chocolate cake. Emersyn recieved lots of fun gifts too.. she got money, Barbies, necklace and many other things. Happy Birthday my little sweet girl.

Mexico

While in Mexico every morning we would get up with the tide being out. The rocks were exposed which meant happy hunting of crabs for all the kids. Then the peddlers would come and want to sell you anything they could. By the end of the trip even the little ones were saying, "No Gracias". Majority of the time was spent in the ocean catching waves. Cameron was sweet to show Emersyn how to ride the waves the first day they got in. After that Emersyn would spend hours and hours with the waves. Ellie and Cameron both were our other main wave catchers. I couldn't believe how many hours they would spend in the water. It made for early bedtimes. There were also times we just wanted to sit and watch the waves come in. We had a lot of fun but our kids come back grateful for the things they have.

Let the swimming begin

School is out for summer and we are ready to swim. We were invited over to some friends this afternoon for a pool party. Even though the clouds were out we were still ready to celebrate no school until August 10th. Swimming is one thing my kids never get tired of. If you have a pool in your backyard, watch out we're coming to jump in..... I'm really crossing my fingers next year we will have a pool of our own.

6th Grade for the rest of our lives.....

"6th grade for the rest of our lives we miss you already..." this is a song the 6th grade has been singing. It brings tears to my eyes knowing that Cameron will not be attending Canyon Rim anymore. He started Canyon Rim the first year it was opened as a kindergartener. Hard to believe that much time has passed. Mrs. Cummard was a great teacher for Cameron. I was a little nervous at first but found the year very successful.

End of year awards

Monday at school Cameron and Kaelyn had an awards assembly. Kaelyn and her team earned the first place prize in the Battle of the Books. This is a cool thing for only fifth and sixth graders to participate in. If a student is interested they find others to form a team. There is a list of books they are to read. The list would contain 4 books. Every few months they would meet for a "battle" against other teams. However, each "battle" pretained to a different list of books. The librarian would get questions from the books they read with each team being given points according to their answer and if it was correct or not. Kaelyn's team tied for first. The other team was chosen to go to District to "battle" against other schools.
Cameron was presented a trophy for being Student Body Class President this school year. I think he had a lot of fun and he did a mighty fine job. Cameorn only has 1 more day of school as a 6th grader attending Canyon Rim. In the Fall he will attend Desert Ridge Jr High. There's no way he is that old!!
