Finally....

FINALLY!!!!!!!

I have had on my wish list for a few years now a new bed and new bedroom bedding... Well, I didn't get the bed, BUT I did FINALLY give in and get new bedding. Although, we still need a new bed, it has been fun getting some new bedding to lighten up our bedroom. For the past 10 years (no kidding) we have had this dark brown duvet cover with plaid throw pillows that were deep red, orange, brown.. ya know those colors. I still LOVE those colors, BUT it was time for something new!!! I feel like I am sleeping in a "hotel bed". My kids laughed when I said that but the comforter is so comfy and warm that it really does remind me of a hotel bed. If I leave my bed unmade and go about my day will someone come in and make it for me????

There are still some things left to do... like paint the walls and things but for now I am enjoying my new "hotel bed"!!!

Wolverine

Cameron was nicknamed "wolverine" by one of his friends. We are all amazed at how fast Cameron's foot healed and he was able to get back to playing basketball. When we found out his foot was indeed broken, we were a little nervous at how long he would be out or what sort of rehab would be involved. Our prayers were answered when we found out he would be back to playing in 6 weeks. Thank goodness for the winter break which allowed him the time to heal while not missing games. Cameron missed 7 games total.

He came back to play first game in Jan against Westwood. He had a great game. His second game was an even better game scoring 32 pts in the Freshman game.

We have had a great time getting to watch him play!!!

I love my kids and the talents they all share with us!!! Makes for some very fun times in our household.

Christmas 2011

Every year before we head off to festivities we take a family photo in front of our Christmas tree. This is what we got this year...AND...sadly, this is about all we got of Christmas this year. The camera stayed in the bag as we enjoyed each other.

*** Am I shrinking?? I know I am short, but this picture really displays how short I am. I now have 2 of my 4 children who are taller than me and 1 more who will most likely be by the time we take this picture again.

Time to Party!!

This post is LONG overdue... I mean a month overdue. The holidays come and all craziness comes with it.

Ellie turned 11 back in Dec. Ellie loves to move and be entertained. I had a friend who did a scavenger hunt birthday party with a twist. Thought we would steal the idea :) I am good at that, ya know....stealing other people's ideas. Anyway, the twist was.... This was a "flat Ellie" scavenger hunt. This is how it went. We printed out a little animated person and pasted a picture of Ellie's face. We gave each team a list of things around the neighborhood. So we didn't need to bother many people, the things were things you could find in yards or what not. Anyway, we broke the party into groups. (For protection and supervision I had a Cameron and Kaelyn go with the groups... Not sure there was any protection or supervision) It worked out there was a boy team and a girl team. Gave them their lists, an hour time limit and sent each group on their way. Our house was SILENT!!!! Now, this is the way to throw a party I was thinking... Everyone is entertained and my house is not getting destroyed in the meantime. Thankfully, they all made it back. Everyone was fine. The boys actually won (a king size candy bar) but we discussed it and all the party guests went home with a king size candy bar. Well, not everyone, some decided to eat it the minute they got it. Like they hadn't had enough sugar, candy, soda and pizza already.

We look forward to this next birthday party.... It will be the BIG one we have been waiting for... turning 12 on 12/12/12!!!!

Happy Birthday sweet Ellie!! You bring so much life to our family. We love you and hope you have a wonderful birthday today. I can hardly believe it was 11 years ago they put you in my arms. What an adventure these 11 years have been and we look forward to many more. I love who you are and the young woman you are becoming. Your personality definitely brightens up a room when you walk in. Don't ever forget how much we love you!!!

Nutcracker Tribute

WOW...is all I can say!!! All I know is how many hours my girls have practiced for the Nutcracker. I have no idea how many hours both Ryan and Robbin put in behind the scenes to help pull it off. This is the second year the Nutcracker has been performed. This is the second year my girls have been a part of it. Because our family is such good friends with Ryan and Robbin I have a small idea of how much time and effort goes into putting this production together. However, I am not aware of the sleep that is lost due to things needing to be done. I am grateful for Robbin and bringing her talent and love of dancing into our family. She is amazing!! Kaelyn and Emerysn look up to her. They both have mentioned how much they love to dance and hope to dance for a long time. Emerysn would like to teach ballet when she gets older. As much as they LOVE to perform, I LOVE to watch!!!

Dew Drop

This past weekend was a big even in the Washburn girls' lives. Kaelyn and Emersyn have been working so hard the past few months preparing for the Nutcracker Act II. They have spent many Saturday's at the dance studio learning their parts. So much anticipation for it to be done within a matter of hours. Kaelyn walked around on Sunday a little on the down (mostly tired) side, sad the performance was over. She has some wonderful friends (Kylee, Saedra, Krista, Morgan) who came out to support her.

How grateful we are for friends who support us!!
